Tavares / Joann / Sadie's Story

General Notes | Joann/Sadie is a beautiful, resilient Chocolate Lab whose incredible journey has brought her from the heat of Mississippi to the mountains of Colorado! As a retired mama dog, Sadie is ready to trade in her past for a future filled with comfort, security, and endless love. She is sweet, taking immense pleasure in the simple things: a soft blanket, a quiet hand, and the chance to simply relax. Sadie is seeking a calm, patient family who understands that she's learning how to be a pampered pet. Offer this deserving girl a peaceful retirement, and she will reward your kindness with the deepest loyalty and an abundance of silent affection. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP.

Personality | This beautiful chocloate Lab is happy, sweet, and looking for someone who can build a trusting bond with her. Sadie enjoys the company of other dogs. She is working on becoming more comforable around men - it's a work in process. Sadie is smart and enjoying a board and train program where she is building up her confidence and learning the skills and behavior she needs to be someone's BFF.

Story | Sadie is a breeder release dog, her life before she came to MHLM was about making puppies. Unfortunately, Sadie did not get as much positive interaction with people and exposure to typical things that most dogs learn early in life. Sadie has been working on basic training and skills. Sadie is lovable and sweet, but she requies an adopter who is experienced with training and committed to on going structure that Sadie needs to be the best girl.

Other Dogs | Yes

Cats | Unsure

Children | Older kids who will be respectful should be fine.

Training | Sadie has been doing a board and train program with an excellent trainer and Sadie's adopter will be included in the "go home" training orientation so her adopter will be well prepared on Sadie's training and how to continue those efforts. Sadie has learned all the good doggie skills: sit, wait, come and more!

Leash | Sadie has been working on her leash skills.

Activity Level | Moderate - Sadie is not a low energy dog, she is smart, active, fun and likes to be active.

Health Notes | Sadie is up to date on vaccinations and she's a happy healthy girl. Sadie is spayed and heartworm negative.

Thank you! |

Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $700 per dog).

Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet & greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process.

Please know | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption.

We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!

We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle.
