Tatum's Story

Meet Tatum a tiny little warrior with the biggest personality and an endless amount of love to give. At just 2 years old and 25 pounds, this adorable terrier mix has already been through more than most dogs ever should, but you would never know it from the joy she carries every single day.

Tatum was originally adopted from the shelter but sadly surrendered earlier this year. After entering rescue, we learned she had suffered a spinal injury near her tail that left her incontinent. While we may never know exactly what happened to her, specialists believe it was likely caused by some type of traumatic injury. Despite visits with specialists and acupuncture treatments, her condition is considered permanent.

But heres the thing about Tatum she does not let it define her.

This girl RUNS. She plays. She zooms around the yard with her funny little gait and lives life with pure excitement. She loves walks, car rides, other dogs, and making everyone laugh with her goofy antics. Shes incredibly social and loves every person she meets. Tatum has the sweetest habit of tilting her head and locking eyes with you like she understands every single word youre saying.

Shes also wonderfully cooperative with her care. Since she is incontinent, she does need to be expressed throughout the day and wears a diaper at night, but she handles it all like a champ. She just wants so badly to be included, loved, and treated like every other dog.

Tatum is the kind of dog that leaves a mark on your heart. There is something incredibly special about her resilience, her happiness, and the way she continues to trust and love despite everything shes endured.

We know finding the right home for a special needs dog can be difficult, but we also know her person is out there someone who will look beyond her disability and see the funny, affectionate, joyful little soul she truly is.

Tatum doesnt need perfection. She just needs someone willing to love a very special girl who deserves the happiest ending imaginable.

If interested in meeting Tatum, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application/

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $100–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
