Tanning's Story

Tanning is not only a couch potato, he is sort of built like the couch itself. Yes, he needs to lose some weight, he does like to take short walks and walk well on the leash. He OBVIOUSLY is a fan of treats, and when it comes to playtime in the yard, he finds the sunny spot to take another nap. This boy is chill!

He found his way into our rescue after he was dropped off at our vet's office and was living in a kennel there. He has now been in our rescue for a full year now. WHY? Well he is not a fan of other male dogs, but is fine with female dogs. But other than that, he is a gentleman.

If you are looking for a laid back companion, that needs a little weight management (for his own good), please consider Tanning. He is 6 years old and currently weighs 85 lbs. He should be more like 60 lbs max, he is HOUSE BROKEN!

Let's get this senior boy where he belongs, in a home with a family!!

***************PLEASE READ THIS FOR NEXT STEPS****************

Please note that our animals are rescued and transported from South Mississippi where major animal overpopulation means less homes. We only transport them once adopted, in most instances, we can be available for a video call once an application has been approved.

We are USDA certified, and WE PERSONALLY TRANSPORT OUR OWN adopted animals to meet their new families. We transport every 2-3 weeks.

Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, Microchip, heartworm tested, Mississippi Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you

***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.***

We are currently unable to adopt pets to ME and RI residents.

Dixie Adoptables's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process: Our goal is to match the right pet with the right adopter. 1. Once we receive the completed application, we will call your vet references, personal reference, and landlord (if applicable). 2. Once you get an approval, we will set up a time for a phone call and typically can offer a video call with the potential animal. 3. All adoptions will be finalized and fees collected prior to the transport of your new family member. Adoption fees will not be refunded if you simply change your mind. We only hold an animal for adoption once a deposit has been paid or the full adoption fee has been paid. 4. We will coordinate with you to transport your new pet to one of our many transport destinations if you are not a local adopter. **We reserve the right to refuse an adoption**
