Talley-Ho's Story
Meet Talley-Ho! The sweetest, silliest, playful, HAPPY, and loving little lab-mix you will ever meet! At 2.5 years old, Tally is the typical Lab Pup in many ways. She Loves! Loves! Loves! to play ball and will play fetch with you for as long as she can get you to toss the ball – actually, ANY toy will do! She loves to wrestle with her Fur Foster Siblings and thinks a game of chase is The Best! Her tail is always going, and she exudes Joy.

Talley came to Hearing Dog because her owner was dealing with health issues and could not care for Talley. Since she has been with us, we have seen Talley make great strides in her training. Because Talley’s owner was not able to get her out much, or take her for walks, Talley had not had the opportunity to learn good leash manners – so that has been an area we have really been working on. Talley has proven herself to be a fast learner, and we have been so pleased to watch her blossom and learn! However, as we have worked with her, it has become evident that, although she is one of the most wonderful dogs ever, she does not have the personality of a service dog. Talley would much rather focus on a toy laying in the corner than focus on an alarm going off ? Her zest for life is a delight BUT it proves problematic when you want Talley to maintain her focus elsewhere ?!

Although not a service dog candidate, she will be an amazing companion dog! She plays great with dogs and does fine with cats and children. She has lovely house manners and her foster trusts her to have free range of the house. Talley does great in the car and loves car rides! Talley is wonderfully affectionate and loves to snuggle up close. She is a ball of energy, yet she can “settle” when asked to and will lie patiently on her dog bed when cued. Like a typical lab, Talley can get focused on squirrels and rabbits. She has begun to respond well to “leave it” cues and can be re-directed but she will still need consistent and patient training to strengthen her leash skills.

Talley will do best where she can be the typical happy Colorado Dog – daily walks, mountain adventures, swims, romps in the snow! She will benefit greatly from continued positive reinforcement training and needs someone who is willing and able to put in the training time needed to get her to be a great companion on and off the leash!

From her foster ~~ “Talley loves the snow, loves walks, loves squeaky toys, loves fetch, loves being petted, loves treats, loves car rides, loves her dog friends, and above all else, loves being close to her person. If you are looking for the ultimate in an unconditional loving pup partner, want a playful playmate, will keep her exercised, and you have the willingness to help Talley continue to learn and grow, then the two of you should meet! Talley is an exceptional dog, and she will bring great Joy to her Best Forever Friend!”

If you're interested in meeting this very special dog fill out an application on our website: https://www.hearingdog.org/what-ihdi-does/career-change-dogs/career-change-dog-adoption-application.html
