Taco's Story
Apply to Adopt Me!

Meet Taco, the sweetest little cuddle bug you’ll ever know! Taco is a 2–3yr old Chihuahua mix, weighing 11.9 pounds, and he is truly made of love. Though he was found as a stray (likely abandoned), he has nothing but affection to give and is blossoming more every day in his foster home. Taco’s favorite place in the world is right next to his person. He’s a devoted cuddle companion who loves to be touching you — whether that’s curled up on the couch, snoozing in his cozy living room bed, or sleeping peacefully through the night in bed with his foster mom. He doesn’t stir in the morning until she does and is an all-around perfect bedtime buddy. He gets along well with other dogs, particularly those who are friendly but also understand personal space. He’s gained confidence from having a calm, confident foster fur-sister as a role model and has started initiating play with her. While Taco was initially unsure about leash walking, he’s made great progress and now happily looks forward to his twice-daily walks. His confidence continues to grow, especially when he’s out exploring the world with someone he trusts. Taco can be a bit skittish around new people and needs a little time to warm up, so he’s looking for a patient, gentle family who will let him settle in at his own pace. A home with no kids or older, respectful children would be ideal. Once Taco bonds with you, he becomes an incredibly loyal, attentive little companion — he listens well, corrects easily, and clearly wants to please his person. Taco can also be nervous during car rides, but with gentle reassurance and repetition, he’s making steady progress and improving each time. He’ll thrive with a patient family who can help him feel safe and supported while he continues to build confidence in the car. He’s fully potty trained, doesn’t need a crate, and has no separation anxiety when left alone. He enjoys time in the backyard, especially when he can stretch out and soak up the sun. He loves toys, is very treat motivated, and has a sweet, submissive nature paired with growing confidence. Taco’s happy place is his little bed in the living room, where he can nap comfortably while still being part of whatever is going on — a perfect balance of independence and togetherness. This gentle, loving boy has so much devotion to give and truly deserves a forever family who will cherish him as much as he will cherish them. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a champion cuddler, and a soft soul to share your life with, Taco may be your perfect match. We are preferring a fenced yard for him since he loves to sun bathe.

Taco is heartworm positive at this time, and is on the slow kill protocol, which we can explain that process to any interested applicant. He can enjoy regular activities. Heart worm disease is contracted from an infected mosquito and can not be transmitted to another dog. It was just discovered that Taco has a heart murmur, which could be related to his heartworm positive status. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Taco, please complete an application and tell us more about your family.
