Sylvia's Story
**CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE

**Accepting Applications — Foster-to-Adopt (Available After Spay)**

Sylvia is a 9-month-old, 46-pound Husky mix who came to the shelter as a stray. While no one came looking for her, it didn’t take long to see that Sylvia is a young dog with a lot of heart and potential.

Sylvia is sweet, social, and full of youthful energy. She enjoys being active, loves to move, and has a playful, happy spirit once she feels comfortable. With new people or unfamiliar situations, Sylvia can be a bit unsure at first and benefits from being given time and space to warm up. With patience and gentle encouragement, her confidence continues to grow.

She has done well with the other dogs she has met and enjoys their company. When walked through the cat room, Sylvia showed no real interest, though any introductions in a home setting should always be done thoughtfully.

Sylvia is learning the routines of indoor life and does an excellent job keeping her kennel tidy. Leash walking is still a work in progress — she can get excited and distracted — but with consistency and positive reinforcement, she continues to improve.

Sylvia would thrive in a patient, active home that understands she is still a puppy learning how to navigate the world. She would do best with adopters who enjoy walks, playtime, and helping a young dog build confidence at her own pace.

Sylvia will be spayed, microchippedand Heartworm tested prior to adoption. She has been brought current on her vaccines, dewormed, and started on flea/tick prevention.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
