Sydney's Story
Sydney is a six-year-old beagle looking for her forever home. Sadly, and through no fault of her own, Sydney was surrendered back to our rescue when her forever mom passed. She's done well in her foster home, has complete run of the house and has not require a crate. She is good with cats, other dogs and with kids. Sydney is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to become part of your family.

Introducing sweet Sydney!! This moderately active beagle girl loves walks, and playing fetch with stuffie dog toys. However, the best parts of her day is going for a ride in the car or meeting new people on her walks. While she is capable of barking, Sydney is not all that vocal. She absolutely loves a good cuddle session and follows her humans all around her foster home.

Sydney is friendly to everyone human she’s met, children, other dogs, cats. She loves seeking attention from her human companions and a good evening cuddle session on the sofa in front of the TV is a treasured experience of her day. Other than a ride in the car, Sydney thoroughly enjoys a nice walk. Her foster mom says "Sydney is such a sweet dog that loves everyone. When we go on walks, she is always hoping someone will notice and pay attention to her." Fetch sessions in the back yard with a stuffy toy are another huge daily event she thoroughly enjoys. At the end of the day, a nice cuddle session on the sofa with her foster mom is a must. Sydney understands some obedience commands, is not terrified by loud noises but can be unsettled by thunder noises. To date, Sydney has not chewed on any inappropriate objects but putting these out of reach is always suggested.

While Sydney is 6 years old, don't be fooled, she is full of life and enjoys all its experiences. We believe Sydney can adapt to a wide range of experiences thus we are looking for a family that enjoys long daily walks, and riding in a car with a sweet beagle. She would be a great addition to a family with children or another dog, a free-standing home with a yard, an apartment or condo will also work for this sweet girl. If you feel that Sydney would be a great addition to you home and family, get the process started by submitting an application to adopt this sweet little girl.

You may not know it, but you might have a BEAGLE to thank for your medicines! Beagles are used for safety testing of human and veterinary medicines for the same reasons that they make good pets; they're small and gentle-natured. Where does Happy Paws Rescue come into the picture? On a regular basis, research facilities have beagles that they release to us. It gives us and you a chance to give back to these sweet dogs that have contributed to the advancement of science. Please email us if you're ready to be a giant hero in the eyes of a little dog!

Thinking about adopting me? Here’s how:
1. Fill out an application found at www.happypawsrescue.org under the *ADOPT* tab.
2. Please allow 5-7 business days for us to review and respond to your application.
3. Approved applicants will be invited to come meet me at a scheduled meet and greet or adoption event.
4. If both you and the rescue agree that the dog you meet is a good fit for your home, you will fill out an adoption contract and exchange a small adoption fee. Your dog can go home the day of the Meet & Greet.
5. We generally adopt to families within a 90 mile radius of our home base in Piscataway, NJ but may consider farther distances in the tri-state region if volunteers are available. If you live beyond our geographical boundaries, we hope you will contact rescue organizations closer to your home.

Our Mission
To apply for a cat or dog, visit our website at www.happypawsrescue.org. We specialize in the rescue of dogs and cats from high-kill shelters where the prospect of permanent placement is unlikely. We also serve as an educational resource for the public regarding the prevention of cruelty to animals, in addition to spay and neuter awareness to reduce the population of homeless and stray dogs and cats. By working with committed volunteers and veterinarians, we provide all dogs and cats in our care with medical attention and a safe haven prior to placement in their permanent, loving homes.
