Swiper's Story

Look at this boy and then check out his fur because you are not likely to see a more interesting multi-colored coat than this handsome and happy 9-month-old mixed breed boy wears! Swiper is looking for a new forever home after his first adoptive family did not have the time required to raise a puppy. It is no fault of his as he is a super sweet and friendly dude who just wants to make friends and have a good time with everyone he meets. Swiper currently weighs 42 pounds and since he still has some growing to do it is estimated he will be a medium sized dog (31-60 pounds) when he stops growing. Dogs and children will not find a sunnier companion than Swiper. It is not known whether Swiper is friendly with cats.Swiper is mastering his manners around the house, crate and leash training. He is a young dog so a firm, positive and consistent approach to training, with plenty of practice and praise, will lead to his success. Rescue dogs may have accidents as they transition to a new home so patience is also important. If crate training is planned, Swiper requires a crate that is big enough for him to turn around, stand in and lie down. Crates need to be warm welcoming places and must never be used for punishment. Swiper deserves a family with plenty of time to commit to making Swiper the best version of himself, so if you can provide a warm welcome and plenty of love, Swiper is waiting for you.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Swiper is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.
