SweetiePie's Story

SweetiePie is a truly special girl with a lot of backstory.... This sassy and silly little pup is about 3 years old, and entered our adoption program because her beloved owner passed away. SP was very bonded with her person, enjoyed their daily walks, dog park romps (with small groups of select dog friends), and many wonderful hours cuddled up together while her person was under that care of an incredible hospice team. SP really was a therapy dog for her person.

SP is great with cats, which we now know after a trial home that had four male cats she cohabitated with seamlessly. Some of her favorite dog friends/energies have been a mature/mellow Boxer boy, a gentle Labrador guy, and a mini Schnauzer mix girl. SP is not fond of men, and she consistently takes quite a bit of time to warm up to them compared to women.

SP is fully trained with remote collar, knows her obedience commands, is the easiest dog to walk, and has been crate trained as well. Her personality is nervous overall, and she can be flighty when stressed - especially in new environments/transitions.

Although SP is a little anxious during car rides, she will climb right in and sign up for any adventure with you. When crated, she's calm and quiet, although prone to some separation anxiety if you don't keep things in balance for her. She's used to the crate overnight here, but used to sleep with her person in bed, so this can be something an adopter allows over time if desired.

SP had a full dental cleaning and exam that included several extractions of small teeth, and she is up to date on everything - spayed, microchipped, and comes with a lot of accessories and things she'll need to be established with you right away.

For more information about our adoption program, please visit hope2k9.com, where we also have applications provided. Once we receive your application, we will connect with you about scheduling a meet and greet if you're interested in this cutie.

Fostered/trained in Point Loma, San Diego - SweetiePie is ready to go home now.
