Sweetie's Story

Sweetie is officially ready for a forever home of her own! Rescued from the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter in pretty horrible condition, she arrived as a red, itchy, crusty mess, but thanks to the miracle of Apoquel and some TLC, she is healing beautifully and ready to show off her true self, which can best be described as a walking, talking, honey-baked ham. Sweetie has the absolute best smiles and best teefs in the business, and she is so wonderfully submissive that she will instantly pick up her paw and roll onto her belly for rubs the second you look her way. A total conversationalist, she actually talks to you and lets out the most adorable, quiet little whines when she wants your attention, which is usually because she wants to be cuddled all the time. While she is a super snuggler who wants to be glued to your side, she can also self-entertain with toys although any plush toy with stuffing stands absolutely zero chance of survival. Sweetie is a total piggie when it comes to her own food, yet she is polite enough to completely respect your space while you eat your dinner, and she makes life easy by taking her medicine right in her food like a champ. She is also a certified bath superstar, which is perfect for keeping up her ongoing glow-up routine. Just a heads up for the local wildlife: Sweetie has a prey drive, meaning she is fully committed to catching those "wascally wabbits" and ensures there will be absolutely no more stray cats roaming your block. If you are looking for a goofy, loving, talkative companion who went from crusty to the cutest girl on the block, Sweetie is your girl!

The Atlantic Paws Project's Adoption Policy
At The Atlantic Paws Project, our adoption policies are designed to ensure that every dog is placed in a loving, permanent home as a cherished family member. We require adopters to provide a "nonrefundable" donation to support our rescue efforts and commit to high standards of care, which includes keeping the dog primarily indoors with full house privileges, providing quality nutrition, and ensuring they are never used as guard animals or transported in open vehicles. Adopters assume full responsibility for all veterinary care including maintaining current vaccinations, heartworm, and flea/tick preventatives and must keep microchip information up to date. If behavioral challenges arise, we require owners to work with a professional trainer to resolve them; however, if an adoption cannot continue for any reason, the dog must be returned to us rather than being sold or rehomed elsewhere. Ultimately, we view adoption as a lifelong commitment, and while we provide all known health and temp
