Sweetheart's Story

Sweetheart has just the right name, she really is a sweet dog. She gets along great with other dogs, as long as they are not too wild to scare her, and she also loves cats. She is not used to living with children, so she would have to get used to it.
Sweetheart was born with a congenital malformed right front leg, she is missing her humerus and the rest of the leg is bent, muscles atrophied. Some people call it a "chicken wing". When lying down, Sweetheart uses it to hold herself up on that side, but it doesn't cause her pain. She is used to it, doesn't know she is different and manages just fine. When she goes slow, she uses kind of a hop, but when she runs, you can hardly tell that she only uses three legs. As she gets older, her left leg will build more muscles, and she will get even stronger. Dogs walking on three legs do better at a faster pace on walks, but they often tire faster than a dog with 4 legs. But we will see how she develops as she matures.
Sweetheart's original owners dropped her off at a kill shelter because they didn't want her any more, but she deserves a family that loves her despite her unusual leg. Could this be yours?

Adoption fee is $515 which includes deworming, microchipping, 3 sets of puppy shots, rabies and neuter when old enough. After his/her neuter, you will get a $55 refund.
Email: puppies@almosthomefoundation.org
Almost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:
(1) Be at least 21 years of age;
(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;
(3) Have approval from the residence owner;
(4) Have valid ID with current address;
(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and
(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)
*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
