Sven's Story
Sven is a 5 to 6 year old male neutered German Shepard. Like many shepherds he likes his space with new people. He does well warming up over the first couple weeks with treats and walks. He has done a 6 week board and train program in the past and has a great training foundation. He just needs an owner to follow up with. He's easy to walk and doesn't chase lizards or stray cats. He's extremely attentive and aware of his surroundings and makes a great hiking or walking partner. He doesn't bark or growl much but has done well alerting in unfamiliar spaces. He's done well with neutral dogs big and small and would do best with a female k9 companion. He doesn't show much interest in playing with other dog's but has shown affection and neutrality especially with smaller female companions. He's gone through an extensive amount of follow up training and would thrive with an owner that is engaging and interactive on a daily basis. With his older age he's not super active but still needs the commitment of 2 to 3 walks/outdoor time and daily play. Once he is comfortable with you he is affectionate and an eager to please companion that will have your back day and night. When we stop on walks he commonly tucks his butt between my legs now that we've been together for months. He likes to hike, eat hose water, and show off his tricks for treats. To those not familiar with large breeds his demeanor and play style can be intimidating but to those who truly love the shepherd breed he truly fits the personality. When he sees the hose he likes to jump around and chomp water for hours. He would do best in a low traffic household with room to to play and cuddle when he wants to. He doesn't do well in crowds of new people so if a social family having him in his crate put away when people are over is best. Shepherds are special and definitely not for everyone, but for the right people they're awesome.
