Susie's Story
About Susie
Status: Available
Breed: Border Collie
Gender: Spayed Female
DOB: 04/16/2015
LOCATION: Stevensburg, VA
WEIGHT: 39lbs
COAT: Smooth Coat
COLOR: Black and White
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active Companion

Meet Susie!

Poor Susie has lost her home again! In her original home she was a daddy’s girl, but sadly her daddy passed away 4 years ago. Her handicapped mom did her best to care for her until she fell and had to go to a rehab facility. Susie was left in a rental property with only the construction workers who were remodeling the house to take care of her. She was then adopted by a lovely couple who had to return her recently because of their health problems.

Susie has done well since her return to her foster home. Her leash manners are good, and she is well behaved on her outings. She seems to sense people who need her and has calmly approached, sitting quietly next to handicapped people that she has met to have her ears scratched. In her last home she would go lie quietly on the bed next to her disabled owner. She has always had a fenced yard and enjoys her outside time in her foster home. Running the adjoining fence line is her favorite hobby! Running exercise is very important for her so a fenced yard is required.

Susie basically ignores other dogs when she can. She shows no interest in the other dogs in her foster home so will do best as an only dog. She hasn’t shown much interest in the resident cats so probably would done with a dog savvy cat. Her reaction around young children is unknown. She probably will ignore them also if they leave her alone. This girl is well suited for an active senior home!

If you are the perfect forever home for Susie, please fill out an application and contact her foster parents at karinmaida@aol.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Susie’s adoption fee is $350.

Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
