Susie's Story
Miss Susie Q is finally available for adoption! Susie came into rescue a while ago, but had some medical issues to work through. She came to rescue with red, itchy skin, yucky eyes, and ear infections. We tried a few diet changes, antibotics, ear meds and eye meds, but nothing was helping. She has been allergy tested and is now on a special diet and medication to keep her allergies under control. We found out that she had some enviromental allergies which apaquel is helping with, But a long list of food allergies including most proteins. She goes beween a hyrodrolized protein diet and Kangaroo as Kangaroo is the only safe protein.

The itchy skin caused a concern for spay and we made a decision to have her heartworms treated while we figured out her allergies and got her symthoms under control. BUt that required that we waited at least 6 months for her to undergo any surgery including getting spayed. So almost a year after coming into rescue, Susie is finally fully vetted and forever home ready!!!!

All that extra time in rescue has given us the opportunity to get to know her very well.

Susie loves people and has been in a home with kids as young as 8. She is always happy to meet new people. Everyone at the vet's office always brags on how sweet she is despite having had some not so easy appointments(heartworm treatment). She still goes in all smiles and tail wags.

Susie loves walks and is excellent on leash. Sometimes she carries a toy on her walks. She also enjoys car rides.

There are many other dogs in the foster home. Susie gets along with most of them. She seems to make up her mind right away if she likes or dislikes a dog. She continues to dislike certain dogs in the foster home all this time later while she is fine with others. She would have to meet all dogs in the home before she is adopted.

We would recommend a home without cats.

Susie is 56lbs and estimated to be around 5-6 years old. By looking at her, we think she had a pretty rough life. She might not be the best looking dog, but she more than makes up for it with a great personality and so much love to give. Despite her quirks, we think Susie is great and know there is someone out there who will see her beauty the way that we do.

adoption fee $300 includes spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and treated for heartworms . Susie has completed comprehensive bloodwork as well as an allergy panel.
To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic
