Sunshine's Story
Sunshine is an adorable 8-pound, 2-year old Chihuahua with a black muzzle and dapper white feet. Her name suits her: She is always happy.

Sunshine lives in a foster home with 7 dogs, and she gets along with everybody, though she has a marked preference for the dogs who will play with her. When she’s outside, she likes to run zoomies around the yard for a few minutes and then settle into a spot and sit down to sun herself. Her favorite toys by far are the other dogs. When she’s inside, she loves to lay around—on the bed, on the couch, on the floor, on the ottoman—and wrassle with them.

When she’s worn herself down, it’s affection time! Sunshine is very sneaky about working her way into your lap. You look down and see that the dog you thought you were petting is no longer there, and Sunshine has taken their place. She likes to be petted and scritched and told what a pretty girl she is. She will follow you around the house so she is at the ready should you be in the mood to offer up a tummy rub.

As a 2-year-old, Sunshine still has a lot of puppy playfulness, but she also has her manners down (for the most part). She is non-destructive, except for pieces of paper and socks left on the floor. She gets run of house when her foster leaves. She’s average barkiness (Hey!! The mailman’s coming up to the house!!!) with one exception: if a dog barks on the TV, or if she even just sees a dog on the TV (and her TV vision is excellent), she’s going to have something to say. She would like to sleep in her foster’s bed but will accept a dog bed or a nearby chair if she must. She’s house-trained-ish: Not 100%, but close.

Sunshine would prefer to be in a home with another dog for her to play with. She would make an excellent family dog. We transported her up from the Rio Grande valley in southern Texas where she was found roaming the streets. Sunshine is a great little dog and deserves a much better life than the one she’s lead so far.

Sunshine is spayed, has all her shots, and is microchipped. She is heartworm-negative.

Note:
We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
