Sunflower's Story

Sunflower is a 8-10 senior blonde shepherd, who is very calm, low energy, and easy going. She is the ultimate "go with the flow" kind of girl. And she has a remarkable story to tell about resilience, faith, and the refusal to give up.

Sunflower entered the Los Angeles City Shelter as a stray in September. Because she had never been spayed, she was burdened with mammary tumors. As a result of her health issue, the shelter quickly opted to euthanize her.

But Sunflower's sweet soul and gentle nature had already captured the hearts of volunteers who moved into action. She was rescued from the Harbor Shelter a day before she was scheduled to be euthanized, placed in foster care, recuperated from a terrible upper respiratory infection, and finally underwent surgery to remove her tumors.

Fast forward 3 months and Sunflower has not only survived but she has blossomed. Her tumors were entirely removed (one was cancerous) but her prognosis is very good for living disease free. As a breast cancer survivor, she should have mammograms every 6 months as a precaution.

Sunflower is happy and healthy again, gaining weight and looking forward to finally finding her forever home. She is calm, calm, calm, loves to snooze, gets along unbelievably well with all dogs (big and small), and children. (She is still being cat tested.)

This senior girl has the kindest spirit. Her gentle, quiet, soft demeanor is peaceful and calming.

***Please email Paula Fox directly at: paula@pedropetpals.com***
if you would like to be the one to give Sweet Sunflower another chance at life. She hasn't come this far for nothing.
