Sunflower's Story

This beautiful 3-year-old labby girl (about 50–60 lbs) is as gentle as her name suggests—but she’s also a delicate soul who needs a little extra time and understanding to truly shine.

Sunflower came to us after bravely showing up, scared and unsure, on a kind person’s property with her puppies. Since then, she’s been learning that the world isn’t such a scary place—but she’s still very shy and takes time to build trust. Once she starts to feel safe, you’ll see her soft, sweet nature begin to bloom.

She’s wonderfully dog-friendly and finds a lot of comfort in having canine companions around. Because of her timid personality, she’d do best with older, respectful kids who understand that she needs patience and space. Sunflower is still working on her leash confidence, so a securely fenced yard is a must for her right now—this is where she feels safest and happiest.

Sunflower isn’t the kind of dog who will run up to greet you right away—but if you’re willing to go slow and let her come to you, the bond you build will be something really special. She’s looking for a calm, loving home that will give her the time she needs to truly blossom.

If you believe in second chances and have a soft spot for shy dogs, Sunflower might just be your perfect match. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is $200.
