SUNDAE's Story

Sundae is an absolute delight. She is a medium-to-low energy, laid back, warm, gentle, affectionate, and loving dog. Sundae is house broken, very polite in the house. She likes to have a routine which helped her to adjust to our family pretty quickly. She is super easy going, loves toys (hedge hog being her favorite) and treats which she takes very gently. She enjoys human touch, especially hugs, kisses, belly rubs, and just being by your side. She knows sit and stay but prefers to do it in her own speed. Sundae has no food aggression. She rides great in the car but you have to help her in and out. She enjoys car rides. When left home alone we watch her via our home security camera and she just lays by the front glass door waiting for our return. On average we leave her home alone for 2-4 hours and she has been fine. Sundae is good on a leash in general. She shows fear-based stress when passing another dog and needs to be redirected to break her focus. We are currently working on some training with a gentle leash and consistency with redirecting and rewarding. She wants to chase small rodents and lizards so it is important to always watch the surroundings so she can be quickly redirected. A fenced yard would be a huge bonus. Sundae is not good with cats and is dog selective. She gets along with our neighbor's Shihtzu but seems to get nervous and scared around every other dog in our neighborhood. She would need a slow and patient introduction with other dogs. Once Sundae feels like you are her family, she will bark at strangers knocking on your door making her an excellent watch dog. She is not an excessive barker, only to make you aware of a stranger approaching. Sundae came to the shelter with another dog (possibly her sister) and the two shared a kennel together. Unfortunately, once her sister got adopted, Sunday started to stress in the shelter environment. She was losing hair due to the stress and some allergies, and she was just very sad. Being with us and feeling the love and affection, Sunday is back on the road to recovery. Her hair is growing back, her skin is shining and she is smiling a lot. All she wants is to be loved. Overall, Sundae is a wonderful companion, gentle with family, loyal and affectionate. She would thrive being your only pet with a nice back yard for her to explore and hang out in the sunshine. She is so overdue and deserving of furever loving family. ~From her foster mom
