Come see us for a day full of wagging tails and adorable pups!<br/><br/>SATURDAY, MARCH 28 from 12-3PM: DOG ADOPTION EVENT AT the OLATHE PETSMART at 119th & Strang Line with volunteers from Heart of America Humane Society. We'll have several wonderful dogs there looking for homes!<br/><br/>———————<br/><br/>SULLY didn’t get the love he deserved early in life. He was found living in an overgrown backyard with his brother and their mama, just trying to make it through each day. But even after years of being overlooked, Sully has the gentlest soul and the kindest eyes. <br/><br/>This handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd mix is the definition of resilience. He’s soft-hearted, loving, and just so grateful for every bit of kindness. Sully adores attention, gets along with other dogs, and has a calm, gentle nature. <br/><br/>He does need a home without cats or young kids-- he's not comfortable around the little ones. <br/><br/>A volunteer took Sully out for a day on the town, and let’s just say… he absolutely understood the assignment!<br/><br/>This sweet boy spent over an hour exploring—sniffing, strolling, and taking in everything around him like the curious little gentleman he is. <br/><br/>He dipped his paws in a creek (and loved it), watched the geese with interest, investigated a hollowed-out tree, and even visited the Shawnee Indian Mission where he behaved like a perfect little historian—seriously, not a single potty on the signs. <br/><br/>Sully can be a bit skittish at first, but he works through it. His curiosity always wins, and he warms up into such a gentle, loving companion. He was polite and respectful with both people and other dogs on his day out—no attitude, just sweet curiosity. <br/><br/>Car ride? Literally perfect. Calm, relaxed, and happy just to be included.<br/><br/>On leash? Easy and enjoyable—no excessive pulling, just a great walking buddy.<br/><br/>Personality? Sweet, curious, and affectionate.<br/><br/>Vibe? Your perfect little adventure partner.<br/><br/>They even made a little stop at a pub— Sully enjoyed the full day-out experience!<br/><br/>This boy isn’t just a good dog… he’s an amazing dog.<br/><br/>Sully needs a home!! Come meet him—you might just meet your new best friend <br/>This boy is such a gem!<br/><br/>At 58 lbs, Sully is the perfect medium-sized companion—big enough for cuddles, but not too big for your couch (where he’d love to nap next to you, by the way).<br/>Sully’s been through the tough part of his story—now he’s ready for the happy ending. Could it be with you?<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>ADOPTING A PET<br/>We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.<br/><br/>If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.<br/><br/>Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).<br/><br/>FOSTERING<br/>Can't commit to adoption but still want to help us save lives?
