He was found living in an overgrown backyard with his brother and their mama, just trying to make it through each day. But even after years of being overlooked, Sully has the gentlest soul and the kindest eyes. <br/><br/>This handsome 5-year-old German Shepherd mix is the definition of resilience. He’s soft-hearted, loving, and just so grateful for every bit of kindness. Sully adores attention, gets along with other dogs, and has a calm, gentle nature. <br/><br/>He does need a home without young kids-- he's not comfortable around the little ones. <br/><br/>Sully recently got to enjoy a Doggy Day Out, and his volunteer couldn’t stop raving about him! Sully was an absolute gentleman! He rode perfectly in the car and had such a calm, easygoing demeanor. He went to Antioch Park where he enjoyed a nice hour-long walk. His favorite things? Watching the turtles and checking out those big decorative balls that completely intrigued him. <br/>He wasn’t super interested in treats, but he sure did love his egg sandwich. Afterward, Sully visited the volunteer office where everyone absolutely gushed over him. He can be a little cautious with new people at first, but he warms up so quickly and shows his sweet side.<br/><br/>This boy is such a gem!<br/><br/>At 58 lbs, Sully is the perfect medium-sized companion—big enough for cuddles, but not too big for your couch (where he’d love to nap next to you, by the way).<br/>Sully’s been through the tough part of his story—now he’s ready for the happy ending. Could it be with you?<br/><br/><br/>ADOPTING A PET<br/>We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.<br/><br/>If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.<br/><br/>Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).<br/><br/>FOSTERING<br/>Can't commit to adoption but still want to help us save lives?
