SUGARBEAR's Story

SUGARBEAR / 1y 8m / FEMALE / MIXED BREED / WEIGHT (42lbs/20kgs) / Rescued from Barbados / Currently fostered in Etobicoke

Good with dogs/cats/kids
House training in progress

Meet Sugarbear - A Gentle, Shy Sweetheart Learning to Trust
Sugarbear is a soft-souled, loyal girl who gives her heart slowly but completely. Once she feels safe, she greets you with her adorable "wigglebum" every morning - a full-body happy dance that makes it impossible not to smile. She has recently started climbing onto her foster's knee for head scratches, something she didn't dare try when she first arrived. Watching her discover affection has been one of the sweetest parts of her journey.

Her days follow a calm, comforting rhythm. Each morning she quietly pads into the bedroom to let her foster know she's ready to go outside. She trots into the yard with the other dogs, does her business right away, and then comes in for breakfast. On walks, she's a gentle companion who loves to sniff every interesting scent she can find. At first she wanted to rush home, but now she relaxes into the walk - a small but meaningful sign of her growing confidence.

Sugarbear lives with two dogs and two cats and fits in beautifully. The cats have even given her little nose kisses, which she accepts with quiet curiosity. She's beginning to play with the dogs, though she's still figuring out the rules. One of her foster mom's favourite moments was watching her try to initiate play for the first time - a hesitant little bounce that showed just how far she's come.

Sugarbear is mostly house-trained, respectful of furniture, and does well when left alone as long as she isn't confined. She startles easily at loud noises or sudden movements and is especially cautious around men, but with patience and gentle reassurance, she settles. She already knows "down," and "sit," and her recall has improved as her trust deepens.

Sugarbear is looking for a quiet, patient home with a calm, confident dog who can help her continue to blossom. She may be shy at first, but once she chooses you, she loves you with her whole heart. With kindness and consistency, she will keep growing into the affectionate, devoted companion she's meant to be.

Spayed / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date

**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED -

https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/

For inquiries please do not use Adoptapet/Petfinder inquiry button - send an email directly to hello@caninehaven.org
