Sugar's Story

Why choose me?
Foster Update: We're currently fostering Sugar, a 3-year-old mixed breed cutie with unforgettable eyes! She is looking for her forever home with a new best human friend. Is that YOU? She is so very loving and truly enjoys being around her people, gentle with kids, and has been good with our small dog too. She loves a fenced yard and chasing toys or tennis balls, but hasn't mastered returning them for another throw just yet. She is housebroken and partially crate trained already. Not a barker! Still learning leash manners, but loves being outdoors, so if a human takes the time to get her more comfortable walking on a leash, I know she'll be a great buddy on neighborhood walks. One silly thing we've learned about her is she likes to sleep on her favorite toys like a dragon guarding their hoard! She's got a big heart ready to love!
* * *
From her Couch Crasher -
"True to her namesake, Sugar is so sweet and loving!! Though this mild-mannered girl can be shy and skittish at first, she is so eager to trust and love. Sugar is house-trained and cat-friendly with a proper slow intro (she still gets the urge to chase a bolting cat). She may be dog-selective, as she's done well with some dogs and not so well with others. Sugar knows sit, down, paw, and "other paw". She's a mega-cuddler and would love to be a couch potato with her human, but she loves to play fetch as well! She's even done well in the car for over an hour long rides. One little quirk about Sugar is that she's scared of hard, slippery flooring like tile and hardwood; she stumbled and slid a bit while rounding a corner and has not trusted the floors since, poor girl."

Sugar lives up to her name and is a sweet girl. She was a little shy at first, but after some playtime chasing toys, we were buddies. Sugar sits for treats and toys and enjoys being outside. She's a beautiful dog with a light-yellow coat and one blue eye. Give her a little time to get to know you, and you've got a friend.

You can read more about this dog and check out additional photos here: https://www.accgov.com/9482/Dogs

The adoption fees, shelter schedule, a description of the rescue and adoption process, and a list of included vetting can be found at https://athenspets.net/adoption-rescue-process.

This dog is available for adoption through Athens-Clarke County Animal Services, located at 125 Buddy Christian Way, Athens, GA.
