Sugar's Story

Hi! My name is Sugar and I am looking for a forever home. I am one of several dogs that were surrendered to a small rescue after our owner had to go into assisted living and was unable to keep any of us. A volunteer with that rescue contacted BCAA to see if they could help us and they said yes ... yeah!. We are a collection of dogs that she has rescued over the years and we were all pretty scared when we first came into foster, but everyone has been so nice and patient with us that we are all coming out of our shells; my foster mom says I've done the best and came around the quickest (those treats and good food really helped!). I am a small chihuahua mix at a little under 13lbs, and while I'm guesstimated to be around 7 years old, don't let my age fool you as I have lots of spunk and act much younger than I look, especially considering I'm a tri-pod. I have gotten along with all of the other small dogs I have met but not so good with cats so I will need a home without them. I have done well in my crate which I share with one of my friends without any accidents, barking, tearing up of bedding or any issues with eating side-by-side (although I will try and eat my friend's food after I'm finished with mine since she's a slower eater). I've done ok on leash considering my previous owner said she never had me on one but I would love a fenced yard so I can run around and expore. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at www.bcaaofnj.org.
