Sugar's Story

Meet Sugar- the sweetest choice! When two sisters were abandoned in an outdoor kennel in NC a snow storm and cold weather was on the way. Local volunteers networked for rescue and Diamond Dogs Rescue, Inc. stepped up. Sugar was taken to our vet and safe from the storm.

She was named by the girls caring for her at the clinic and is everything her name promises. She is gentle, easy going, and dog friendly. She has a calm grateful spirit- as if she truly understands she was saved. She leans into affection. She watches you with soft kind eyes. She doesn't demand attention....she just quietly hopes for it.

After being left behind once, Sugar deserves a family who will never let her feel that uncertainty again. A warm bed, a secure yard, a home where she can exhale and just be someone's beloved girl. If you are looking for a loyal companion she is waiting.

Sugar was living with her sister until they were abandoned and separated. She seems to miss them but doesn't ask for much. She is so smart and so ready to learn and take directions. Right now she is being treated for heart worm and with recovery will be anxious to finally have a family. Can that be you?

Our Mission
Our rescue focus is on adult dogs from the southeast that are in high kill shelters. Our plan is to fully vet as needed, evaluate and train as needed in preparation for adoption. We place our rescues in a foster home setting to prepare our dogs for a home of their own and to determine the best match for that rescue.
