Subaru's Story
This bright eyed Blue Heeler mix puppy is approximately 10 weeks old and already full of curiosity, intelligence, and personality. He came to BENCHS after being abandoned in an apartment building, and while his start in life was uncertain, his future is wide open.

Blue Heelers, also known as Australian Cattle Dogs, are incredibly smart, loyal, and driven working dogs. Bred to herd cattle across long distances, they thrive on activity, structure, and purpose. They are quick learners, deeply bonded to their people, and happiest when both their minds and bodies are engaged daily.

This little guy is exactly what you would expect from a Heeler puppy: playful, observant, busy, and always thinking. He will need an active home that understands the breed's energy level and long term commitment. A casual walk around the block will not be enough. Training classes, enrichment activities, structured play, and consistent leadership will be essential as he grows.

He is not an apartment breed. He needs space to move, outlets for his drive, and people who are prepared for the intensity and intelligence that come with a working dog. Breed experience or strong knowledge of herding breeds is required.

Because of his natural herding instincts, he may try to herd fast moving children or other pets. For this reason, we are requiring a home with no children under 6 years old. An adult, indoor home where he is a true part of the family is what we are seeking. He is not meant to live outside or be left to entertain himself.

With the right guidance, he has the potential to grow into an incredibly loyal, responsive, and devoted companion. He is not looking for a couch only lifestyle. He is looking for adventure, structure, and a family ready to invest in raising a confident, well balanced dog.

If you are prepared for puppy energy paired with sharp intelligence and lifelong loyalty, this Blue Heeler mix may be your perfect match.
