Stripe's Story

Stripe is a handsome 2-year-old cattle dog with a distinctive stripe and a personality that's hard to miss. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves being part of whatever is going on around him. Whether you're working, relaxing, or heading out for a walk, Stripe is happiest when he can be nearby. He enjoys ear scratches, belly rubs, and plenty of attention—and isn't shy about reminding you when he thinks it's time for more. At 2&1/2 years and only 36 pounds, Stripe can fit in many homes.

Like many cattle dogs, Stripe is smart, curious, and likes to stay engaged. He's currently recovering from heartworm treatment, so his activity is restricted for now, but he enjoys exploring the world on leisurely walks. He's excellent on leash and prefers to take his time, investigating every interesting smell along the way. He's shown friendly interest in other dogs on walks and curiosity about neighborhood cats, though he has not been extensively tested with either while in recovery.

Stripe is looking for a home that understands the needs of an active, people-oriented dog. He would thrive with someone who is home much of the day and enjoys having a loyal companion by their side. Because Stripe can be cautious when meeting new people and has some herding-dog tendencies, we believe a home with adults or older dog-savvy children would be the best fit.

The good news is that Stripe has already completed the injection phase of his heartworm treatment and is now in the final stage of recovery. Once he's medically cleared, he'll be able to gradually increase his activity level and get back to doing what active young dogs do best. PAW has covered all treatment costs and will continue to provide support throughout his recovery.

This sweet, devoted boy is looking for a patient adopter who appreciates an affectionate dog with a little extra personality. In return, Stripe promises to be a loyal companion, dedicated walking partner, and enthusiastic supervisor of your daily activities.

PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC, and southern PA region
