Stitch's Story

We can't talk about Lilo and Stitch without first telling Mum Myrtle's story. Poor pregnant Myrtle was caught as a stray on the streets of San Antonio and tragically found herself on the ACS (San Antonio Animal Care Services) euthanasia list. On the day she was supposed to die, a miracle happened and she gave birth, giving her precious, additional time to be rescued.

We think Myrtle is a schmedium 35-40 pound Beagle mix, but Dad didn't stick around so we're not quite sure what to label these pups except... CUTE! Myrtle has a wonderful temperament and is super sweet!

The puppies, Lilo and Stitch, are energetic, love toys, chase balls, are good with other dogs and kids including little kids. They are still a little bit 'in your face' puppies so not good for senior dogs who'd be disinterested or annoyed.

Lilo and Stitch will be fully vaccinated Friday 2/27/2026 which makes them available to hop on the transport arriving in Colorado 3/6, or potentially sooner!

Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa.

Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio.
