Stewart's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Stewart was once a no-name dog with no home, but he found caring people on a small Alabama farm. He came and went for a while and then stayed so the kind people contacted us. They helped get him to a temporary Foster home and even paid for his medical care, and now we are expecting Stewart to arrive in Florida mid-January. He is currently in a kennel situation with other dogs and his foster mom has shared some wonderful information about him! She says, 'I love his willingness to try new situations with intelligence. He doesn’t race in, he steps in, he observes, and masters the situation.' When meeting new people, Stewart approaches calmly with curiosity. He stays on all fours and does not push for interaction, but enjoys it when it happens. He uses the same calm approach when meeting other dogs. He is excellent at making and keeping dog buddies of all sizes and temperaments. He likes to play with toys and doesn't mind sharing. We are unsure how Stewart would be with cats and we have not observed him with children. As to his house training, it appears to be a strong lean to a yes. Stewart sleeps in a crate and seems fine to wait until his morning outing. He is in the company of dogs and one or two people for much of the day into the early evening hours. He is a moderately high energy dog who would really benefit from a fenced yard. He's not had a lot of practice on leash but he does fairly well. Stewart enjoys affection and is definitely a snuggler! He is heartworm negative and will be ready for a sleepover as soon as he gets here.
