Hi, I'm Stevie, a 63-pound Terrier mix with a big personality and plenty of puppy energy still packed inside me! I'm a spunky, goofy, sweet boy who loves being around my people, but I'm still learning how to be the best gentleman I can be. I'm going to need a family who understands that I have some basic manners to work on and is willing to give me the time, patience, consistency, and training I need to grow up into the amazing dog I know I can be. I'm treat motivated, which is going to be a huge help when it comes to teaching me new things! I can also be a little cautious when I encounter things I'm unsure about, so lots of positive praise, encouragement, and gentle socialization will help me build my confidence. One thing to know about me is that I'm not a fan of mops or brooms-they can be pretty scary to me-so I'll need a family who is willing to help me learn that those things aren't so frightening. Because I'm a big, active boy with lots of energy to burn, I'm looking for a home that has plenty of space for me to run, play, and get my zoomies out. Having appropriate outlets for my energy is extremely important because when I don't have enough to do, I can become destructive. I would absolutely love a family that enjoys adventures and is ready to keep both my body and my brain busy! Enrichment toys, puzzle toys, training sessions, games, walks, and other forms of mental stimulation will be wonderful ways to keep my busy mind occupied. With the right guidance and plenty of love, I have so much potential to become an incredible companion. I'm an extremely sweet, loving, goofy, and active boy who is just looking for someone willing to see the good in me, help me learn, and love me unconditionally. I promise I'll make every bit of that effort worth it! My adoption fee of $225+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society. All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption. Happy Adopting!

Humane Society of The Black Hills's Adoption Policy

The adoption process may take up to one hour to complete but we’ll keep it as simple and streamlined as possible. Here are the steps when you’re considering adopting a pet: - Visit our website to see available animals or see them on-site during regular hours, seven days a week. - When you find a dog, cat or small animal you would like to spend more time with, simply call the Humane Society of the Black Hills at (605) 394-4170 for an appointment. - Occasionally, our team is able to accommodate walk-ins, but as we cannot guarantee them, it is best to call for an appointment. -During your scheduled appointment, an adoption advisor will review the animal's history with you and bring the animal to meet you for an initial visit. - A second appointment may be made for you for a variety of reasons (Ex. You have a dog at home you'd like to bring in to meet the pet next). -Once you have met a pet that you think is your perfect match and you have been approved to adopt, your adoption advisor will take you through the adoption process, and you can take your new family member home!
