Steve's Story

Steve was discovered outside of the local shelter when the employees arrived for work. In was in the bottom of a tall laundry basket, surrounded by literal trash. Steve was nothing but skin and bones. When the shelter checked the security tapes, they discovered that at 4:23a.m. a pick-up truck pulled up and 3 men got out and left Steve and the laundry basket at the front door. Because of his condition, the initial thought was humane euthanasia would be the kindest option to end his suffering. But when Steve heard all the commotion around him and realized they were talking about him, when he realized that THESE people cared about him, he raised his head up as if to say, "I'm still here". Steve has been seen by a vet and he is extremely malnourished and neglected. He is about 4-6 pounds under weight and when he was found his toenails were so long, they were curled under his feet and growing into his pads. He has a long road ahead of him to recovery but every day he is getting stronger. Keep checking back for updates. Learn more about me and fill out an online adoption application on the From the Heart Rescue website at: www.fthar.org.
