Sterling 's Story
Sterling, sweet & smart, this boy is quick to attach to YOU!
2-3 yrs, 45 lbs medium not tall not a low rider either.
Sterling not only has striking good looks, he’s intelligent, and wants to learn. He came to us 12/27 from Atlanta, GA. He was on the urgent list to be euthanized when someone adopted him, only to return him a few days later. He was at the shelter 3 mos., that is too long at this overwhelmed shelter with 400 dogs. It is loud, and unsettling. They are over capacity each week, so often people adopt or only foster a few days so they saved a dog from the euthanasia list. The dog needs longer time to rest and get into a routine. We just got him, so still learning about him. We have been in touch with his GA foster. She walked him all over the happening spots and he did well! She had him on play dates with other dogs before his neuter and he was a great player and took correction from dogs well. He left the ones who didn’t want to play alone. He’s currently fostered in Loudoun County and we’d love to get him adopted asap so he has less time in foster and more time to acclimate at his Forever home. He quickly becomes your shadow! He knows Sit & Down!! He could use some leash training, don’t they all? He’s been good in the crate here.,his foster in GA left out when she went to work and he was well behaved., he likes fetch and is hilarious self entertaining with tossing the toys to himself! He’s a fun, affectionate boy who’s not overly needy, just likes to be near. ** See our FB (Save the Tails Leesburg) to see more pictures and videos of him. We have not had him around cats. We think he’d make a great walking, hiking, then movie watching buddy. While we haven’t had him with kids, we think he’d probably be ok with older kids, he might not understand darty movements.
To apply/ meet him: Refer to savethetails.org scroll to Foster / Adoption download the application, save it as a PDF and email it back to lisa@savethetails.org Be sure to include your vet contact info and call them to authorize us to do a brief vet check. Our replies often, like most of the time, end up in your junk/ spam please check that after emailing us, he deserves a good home.
