Stella's Story
Name: Stella (mixed breed)
Age: Approximately 1 -2 years
Sex: Female (spayed)
Crate Trained
Housebroken
Fully vaccinated

Stella is a sweet, affectionate, and playful girl who loves everyone she meets! She has a moderate energy level and enjoys walks, playtime, and, most of all, cuddling up with her people and giving plenty of kisses.

She knows her basic obedience as well as several advanced cues and commands. While she is doing very well with her training, she does not yet have reliable off-leash recall and should remain on leash until that skill is fully developed. Stella walks nicely on leash, and we recommend using a head halter (Halti or Gentle Leader) for added control and comfort.

Stella gets along well with cats—her foster home has a young cat, and they enjoy playing together. She also loves other dogs and thrives on canine companionship. She is still learning when playtime is over and can sometimes continue trying to engage after the other dog is finished. She has successfully enjoyed playdates with young adult dogs and has attended Wag Doggy Daycare on several occasions.

She is comfortable in her crate and can be crated for up to 9 hours when needed. At night, she'll happily sleep in her crate but would much rather curl up on her dog bed—or even better, on your bed if you'll let her!

Stella has been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and is under the care of a veterinary behaviorist at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). She currently takes a once-daily anti-anxiety medication each morning.

She has also worked with a professional dog trainer, and through consistent training, structure, and medication, she has made outstanding progress in managing her anxiety and improving her impulse control. She is now ready to find her forever home.

To help Stella continue to thrive, New Hope will provide her adopters with two complimentary training sessions to support a smooth transition and set both Stella and her new family up for success.

Adoption fee is $295. She is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and current on vaccines
