Stella's Story
Hi! My name is Stella. I am one year old and believed to be a German Shepard/Husky mix. I have had a rough go of things my first year. I got pregnant when I had my first heat at 7.5 months old. I was living in a home that wasn’t the best. It was overcrowded with dogs and we didn’t have access to outside or food regularly. Luckily a good samaritan was made aware of my situation and was able to get in touch with Willow Haven Animal Sanctuary. I was rescued on a Friday and was very nervous and VERY pregnant. Three days later I went into labor. Within 30 minutes my first baby was born. Over the next 12 hours I had ten babies!!

It was stressful birthing my babies but my new foster mom was right there the whole time! She helped me deliver each one and helped teach me to clean them and feed them all. My foster mom told me I was such a great mom! All of my babies survived! And they have all been adopted to great families!!

My foster mom told me I had to stay with her so I could gain weight and learn house manners. I am scheduled to be spayed 9/1/21 and I will start my puppy shots, get my rabies vaccine, and be microchipped. I am on heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative. My foster mom promised me I would never have to have babies again so she’s doing the spay surgery before I find my new home.

I am still working on potty training. I am pee pad trained and love going outside but I am easily distracted when I’m outside. Some times I forget to go potty outside and come in and have an accident.

I can be timid when meeting new people but once I know you I am silly and sweet. I love other dogs! I don’t care what size they are I love to play with them all. I like cats but sometimes chase them. My foster mom said I can live with cats but just know I will chase them sometimes.

Kids make me nervous simply because I don’t have a lot of experience with them. My foster mom thinks I would be ok living with older children as long as I had a slow introduction to them. She recommends older children because they need to understand my communication and respect me when I need space.

I will need puppy training and exposure to new things. I will need help adjusting to car rides, walking on a leash, you know the basics of being a dog since I didn’t get that before I was pregnant. I just turned one year old on 8/18/21! I would love to find my new home and my new humans so I can love on them.

Stella will be available to go to her new home the week of 9/6/21.
