Star's Story

Meet Star, a beautiful 3-year-old black Lab mix with a gentle spirit, a thoughtful nature, and a heart full of love.

Star and her brother, Comet, experienced an unexpected tragedy when their owner passed away suddenly while on vacation, leaving them and three other dogs without a home. Thankfully, their dedicated sitters advocated tirelessly for the pups and were able to get all five into rescues. Star and Comet joined our rescue in January, and it has been such a privilege to get to know these deserving dogs.

Star is a demure, nature-loving girl who finds joy in the simple things. She loves belly rubs, stuffed toys, chasing squirrels, and going for peaceful walks. She rides beautifully in the car, is extremely dog friendly, and is perfectly house trained. Star also loves her crate and settles in comfortably when it’s time to relax.

When you first meet Star, she may be a little reserved. She likes to observe and take things in before jumping right into new relationships. But it doesn’t take long for her to open up, and once she does, she becomes the sweetest, most affectionate companion. She is incredibly loyal to her people and has a quiet intelligence that shines through in everything she does.

Star is wonderful with children, especially those who are a little older (around 6+, or those who can let her warm up at her own pace), and she has excellent manners. She knows not to jump on people and carries herself with a calm, respectful demeanor that makes her a joy to have around.

Star is fully vetted. She's up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative. And if you were wondering about her name, it comes from the perfectly star-shaped patch of white on her chest. She’s as stunning as she is lovely.
Star will make an amazing companion for a lucky family who appreciates a thoughtful, loyal, and deeply loving dog. Apply to adopt Star today at CRAPrescue.org/application.

Adoption process: After your phone screening, we can schedule a meet and greet / the start of your foster-to-adopt trial. All adoptions have a 2 week minimum foster-to-adopt trial to make sure that the pet is the right fit for your home, and vice versa. Star's adoption fee is $250, which would be due after the foster-to-adopt period. If you are located outside of Texas, we offer to-your-door transportation and have so many happy families as references. We are very transparent about the process so feel free to ask any questions.

Code Red Animal Project Inc.'s Adoption Policy
All of our adoptions are foster-to-adopt, giving adopters the opportunity to have a trial period. We firmly believe that it is impossible to know if a pet will be a good fit for your home based on a brief encounter. A trial period allows you to see the pet in your home as they decompress and find comfort, and introduce them to different situations and settings that are important in your life. Prior to finalizing adoption, we ask that the pet be seen by your vet so that your trusted veterinary team can assess the animal's health, note vaccination records, and prescribe 6-12 months of heartworm prevention (for dogs).
