Staple (URGENT)'s Story
Meet Staple! This adorable guy is hoping to find his forever home in time for the holidays—and he’s hoping it might be with you. Staple is estimated to be around 9 to 9.5 months old and weighs about 50 pounds. He seems close to full grown but may still fill out a bit more, possibly reaching 65 to 70 pounds. While we don’t have a DNA test, his medical records list him as a Black Mouth Cur mix, though we suspect he could also have Anatolian Shepherd in him.

Not much is known about Staple’s past. He was found as a stray and has been living in a shelter since September 2025, dreaming of a home of his own. Shelter staff describe him as a playful, affectionate pup who loves cuddles, squeaky toys, and being with his people. He has a sweet, gentle nature and was incredibly patient and polite while modeling different costumes for photos. Staple is the perfect walking buddy—easy to love and eager to be by your side for whatever adventures come next.

Like many young dogs with limited exposure to the world, Staple will need an adopter committed to teaching him the basics: potty training, obedience, socialization, and plenty of enrichment. He may be unsure in new situations at first, but with patience and encouragement, his confidence blossoms. He appears to be mostly potty trained, but accidents are to be expected in a new environment.

Staple has been a bit selective with other dogs. With a proper introduction, he could enjoy having a furry companion, but because adopters are out of state and unable to meet him in advance, we believe it’s in his best interest to go to a home where he can be the only dog while he settles in and learns at his own pace. This doesn’t mean he can’t live with another dog in the future—it just means he deserves the chance to adjust and thrive with the guidance of his new family.

His experience with children has been minimal, so we recommend a home with older, respectful kids who understand typical puppy behavior, including playful mouthing. He’ll do best with adopters who are patient, structured, and committed to helping him continue to learn as he grows.

Staple will thrive in a home that offers routine, love, activity, and plenty of bathroom breaks. A fenced yard is preferred but not required, and apartments or condos will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Regular exercise and mental stimulation will help him grow into a well-rounded, happy adult dog.

Sadly, the shelter Staple is in is severely overcrowded, and wonderful dogs like him are at risk simply due to lack of space. We cannot save him without a committed adopter. Staple deserves so much more than a kennel—he deserves a lifetime of love, safety, and belly rubs.

Health:
Staple is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly preventatives. He is too young for heartworm testing but is healthy and ready to go home.

Important:
All of our dogs, including Staple, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.

Please note that any breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and shelter records—we encourage adopters to focus on Staple’s personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than his breed mix.

MA License #479
