Stanford's Story

Stanford is a 10 month old sweet, friendly 24 lb Dachshund mix pup who is ready to be your sidekick. He’s got soulful eyes and a wiggly butt that will melt your heart. This low-rider cutie may have a bit of pitbull in him, giving him an adorable, unique look…and he is SUPER smart!
Stanford has been nothing but friendly with every person he’s met. He greets his humans with full-body wiggles and soaks up affection. He’s still learning not to jump up or get mouthy like an excited puppy, but he responds well to guidance. He hasn’t met children yet, but his foster is helping shape his manners every day.
Stanford is wonderful with his foster’s two dogs and has been polite when introduced properly to new pups. On-leash or at a distance, he can get overly excited and has let out some big, intimidating barks. For a little guy, he can sound like a very big dog! His foster has been working consistently on this, and he’s already improving.
It’s clear that Stanford didn’t have leash training before arriving at his foster home, but he’s caught on quickly. A harness and pack walks have helped him settle into a routine. He is crate trained and fully house trained as well. This clever boy has already learned to “sit”, and he now politely waits for the OK before diving into his food. He loves to learn and loves having a job — even if that job is just being part of the pack!
