Staci's Story

Have you ever wanted a dog... but who is more like a cat?

Congratulations. Staci has entered the chat. Quietly. From across the room. But don't talk to her.

Staci is shy, sensitive, and very much a "please don't touch me, we can just coexist" kind of girl. She does not want pets, cuddles, or a bunch of attention. She will not crawl into your lap, demand affection, or tolerate you being all up in her business. Staci prefers to live alongside her people, not on top of them - and honestly, we respect the boundaries.

Her confidence comes from another dog, and that part is non-negotiable. Staci MUST have a playful canine roommate. Please don't apply if you don't have another confident, playful dog. A confident dog shows her the ropes, helps her feel safe, and unlocks her favorite activity: running and chasing like her life depends on it. When she's with another dog, she comes alive - zoomies, playful chases, and all.

Think of Staci as a cat who:
Goes outside to potty
Needs a dog bestie instead of a scratching post
Shows love by existing peacefully in the same space.

She's fearful and shy at first, but given time, patience, and the right dog companion, she settles into a calm, low-maintenance presence that doesn't demand anything from you except respect. Staci is a huge flight risk and will require a secure fence and someone who is willing to always supervise her while she's outside. She's not a "hang out in the backyard unattended" kind of girl. She needs someone who understands that if she gets away from them, we are likely not getting her back.

Staci isn't for people who want a Velcro dog.
She's for people who appreciate quiet companionship, independence, and a dog who loves you in a very cat-coded way.

She will not love you the day that you meet her. She will not love you next month. She may love you in six months, but she also may not.
If that sounds like your vibe... Staci might just be your soulmate.

Staci's adoption fee is $225 and includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations, and flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. Meet and Greets can be scheduled with Approved Adopters so get your application in today!

APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org

Pawsitive Tails is dedicated to matching the needs and personality of our dogs with your family. We are not in a hurry to adopt out our dogs; we want to make sure the match is perfect for everyone. All of the dogs in our rescue live in foster homes with both the human and furry members of our families. Our adoption process begins with an application which can be found under the "adopt" tab on our website, www.pawsitivetailskc.org. Please complete the form in full; the questions we ask help us to fully understand what type of dog you are looking for, and to make sure you get the very best fit. Incomplete applications will not be processed. If you do not include a vet phone number, a landlord phone number (if applicable), or 3 complete references, we cannot process your application. We will contact your Veterinarian, so please make sure to call them to release your vet history to our volunteer. &nbs
