Meet Squishy

ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: Squishy weighs about 65 pounds.
ESTIMATED AGE: 9 years, 7 months
KNOWN WITH DOGS: Squishy is very laid back about meeting other dogs. She is mildly
curious and very calm when she encounters new dogs. She gets along with all of them.
KNOWN WITH CATS: Squishy is very respectful of cats and mostly ignores them.
KNOWN WITH KIDS: Squishy has met a number of children on her walks and is happy to let
them pet her. She would do fine in a home with children.
KNOWN COMMANDS: She's working on the basics!
KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Squishy signals her need to go outside by
walking toward the door. She does have a degree of urinary incontinence but is very willing to
wear her diaper while inside. She loves her crate and stays there quietly all night. Sometimes
when left alone during the day, she'll nap in it.
KNOWN LIKES: Squishy's best life consists of a couple of short walks a day, 2 good meals,
and lots of love. She is happy to nap most of the day and especially loves to hang outside in
nice weather. Sunbathing is one of her special delights. She is quietly affectionate and will roll
on her back and give you a huge smile when you rub her belly. She loves being stroked by
grooming gloves and being close to her people.

KNOWN DISLIKES: She isn't a fan of getting wet (baths or rain) but does love a towel rub!

ABOUT SQUISHY: Squishy had been starved before she came to HTAR and was
extremely weak and lethargic for the first couple of months in foster. Regular meals and
affection plus much-needed surgery on her teeth and removal of her lipomas has allowed her to
blossom into the epitome of a low-energy sweetheart. She's hard of hearing so the foster is
working with her on a hand signal for 'come.' She enjoys short, leisurely walks, especially with
another dog to keep her company. She has done very well with the foster's dog and follows his
lead in many things. She has shown no prey drive and will ignore other dogs on walks unless
her foster stops to let her say hello. Her legs are quite short and still somewhat weak, so stairs
are a challenge and a home where she can live on one level or have to navigate only a couple
of steps is needed. She rides very quietly in the car. She's not one to demand constant attention or big adventures; instead, she finds joy in the security of regular meals, a nice bed and kisses.
Peanut butter is a favorite treat! If you're searching for a low-maintenance, quietly affectionate
four-legged friend, you can't do better than Squishy.
