Spring's Story
Adoption Fee Fully Sponsored "In memory of Oscar."

Spring is the perfect future bestie for someone who is active and adventurous during the day but prefers to end the night with belly rubs and cuddles! This kind, loving, and goofy shepherd mix has now been at the shelter for 11+ months. She was surrendered here after spending her entire puppyhood on a chain, and while she's enjoyed her time here making friends and playing, it's time for her to move on and find her real and forever family.

Spring has had several Doggy Day Outs with volunteers! She enjoys trips to McDonalds to get pup cups, and she rides politely and quietly in the car. Her leash skills could use some extra attention, but she was very excited to get a break from kennel life, so we won't blame her for pulling ahead. She is always happy to wade in the creek and go for long walks with her best gal pals. She passes humans, other dogs, and bikers without a care.

Spring's got A+ social skills with other dogs, both one on one and within a huge group. She makes friends easily with both males and females. Although she plays hard, she runs out of steam faster than most of the other dogs and is ready to end her playtime after about 20 minutes. She's sensitive and sweet and loves to crawl into your arms after running all her energy out. Recently we have had several puppies that she especially seems to prefer interacting with. Her gentle and forgiving nature makes her a great candidate to help them along with their social skills too! She has briefly interacted with kittens, so she may do well with cats.

One-on-one and as office dog, Spring is a sweetheart. She does not push for attention, but she is SO overjoyed whenever she receives it. She's super food motivated, and she'd like to learn more commands than just sit! She is still getting used to the idea that it's ok to just hang out and rest, but after the first two years of her life being spent outside on a chain and the following year inside a kennel environment, who can blame her.

Spring has several strikes against her - her energy level and her color being two major factors. Black dogs have longer stays in a shelter environment, and at 330+ days here, she's living proof. We need someone willing to see her for who she is. Her excitement is just a sign that she's full of love and happy to see you. The way she bounces around subsides after just a couple of minutes, but most people don't stick around during a meet and greet to see that. We know her perfect family is out there. And she'll just keep hanging out with us until we find them!
