Spirit's Story
Meet Spirit!

A 5-year-old, petite mix of pure resilience and sweetness.

Spirit has come so far. She learned how to be a dog… how to be part of a family… and, most beautifully, how to trust. She’s gentle, soulful, and good with other dogs. Read her incredible journey below.

Spirit’s Story

10/7/22: Spirit was confiscated from a dog-fighting ring and taken to the shelter. She was given a number instead of a name.
11/29/22: All confiscated dogs were officially surrendered.
12/10/22: I chose her and gave her the name “Spirit.”
12/17/22: She arrived in Wisconsin and began the first day of her new life.

A New Beginning

Spirit is extraordinary. Her tail still tucks tight, but every now and then I catch a tiny wag out of the corner of my eye—a little spark that tells me she’s healing.

She loves when someone talks to her. I imagine she went years without anyone treating her like a living, feeling creature… so now she soaks in every word. I tell her often how perfect she is, how loved she is, and how bright her future looks. I have patience. I have time. And she deserves both.

She adores her soft bed—no more cold, hard ground. She proudly wears her winter coat when she goes outside. She loves having a full belly, warm naps, gentle pets, and quiet reassurance. She flinches a bit at first touch, but then melts into soft affection.

What Spirit Wants

Love.
A full belly.
A warm, soft place to sleep.
Gentle words.
And a family who will treasure her for the rest of her life.

This. Is. Our. Journey.
And now, she’s ready to start the next chapter—with a family who sees the magic in her.

Spirit is available for adoption through Ma Paws & Me Pet Rescue based out of Watertown, WI.
