Spike's Story

Spike arrived at our shelter as a stray, and life on the road hadn't been kind to him. He was malnourished and had quite a few bumps and bruises. He seems happy and thankful to have steady meals, a clean, dry bed, and human and canine companionship. He is thriving with us. He is about 5 years and 51 pounds.

From the beginning, Spike has been friendly and calm. He enjoys snuggles, back scratches, and going for walks. He is fine on a leash and well housebroken. He gets along with his kennelmates and all the dogs he has played with here. He seems uninterested in the cats in our cat room.
If you are looking for a faithful, joyful friend with boundless love to give, you'll find one in Spike!

Thanks so much for considering Spike and supporting our small, rural animal shelter. Powell County Animal Shelter 's Adoption Policy
We have an application form that gives us information about potential adopters' homes and family situations. This helps us to determine if an animal will be safe in their new environment, and if the new owner would be willing and financially able to care for a new pet and to commit to keeping it for the span of its natural life. In addition to logistical and practical questions, we encourage potential owners to think about how they will live daily with a new pet, and to understand what a lifelong commitment to a pet means.
