Spence aka Diesel's Story
Welcome back, sweet Spence.

Spence aka Diesel, first came to Save Monroe Strays as a puppy and was adopted at just 12 weeks old. Now 15 months old, this sweet boy unexpectedly finds himself searching for a new forever home.

Spence has been very loved. Unfortunately, his dad suffered a stroke a couple of months ago and is no longer able to care for him. Through no fault of his own, his whole world has changed.

And understandably, he's still trying to figure it all out.

Spence is about 40 pounds, neutered, up to date on his medical care, and still has plenty of that happy puppy energy. He absolutely LOVES long walks and car rides. He was accustomed to riding around in his dad's truck during the day and being part of everything, so spending 10-12 hours alone while his temporary caregivers are at work has been a big adjustment.

This boy would LOVE an active person or family who wants a four-legged sidekick. Hiking? He's in. Camping? Absolutely. Road trip? Call shotgun for Spence. He simply wants to be included and spend time with his people.

Spence is dog-friendly with proper introductions and is currently living with a Pomeranian and three cats. He can get excited when meeting new people or animals and may need a few minutes to settle down. With everything in his life changing so suddenly, we think he deserves a little patience, understanding and reassurance while he finds his footing.

Our rescue will be spending time with Spence over the coming weeks-walking, hiking, working on calmness and manners, and most importantly, reminding him that he is still very, very loved. He has an entire army behind him determined to find the right next chapter.

Now we need your help.

If you're looking for an affectionate, energetic best friend who will happily join you on life's adventures, Spence may be your guy. And if you can't adopt, please share his story. Sometimes one share is all it takes to reach the person an animal has been waiting for.

Spence is available for adoption through Save Monroe Strays Rescue.

Let's get this sweet boy out of temporary housing and back where he belongs-in a home, with his person, knowing he's forever.
