Sparky's Story

Sparky was found as a stray on July 11, 2025, and at just 2 years and 7 months old, he should be living his best young-dog life -- learning routines, going on adventures, and growing up in a home. Instead, Sparky has spent 229 days waiting in a shelter kennel. And it's starting to show. Like many dogs who spend long periods confined to a kennel, the constant noise, limited freedom, and daily stress have taken a toll on him. Sparky still has a big, goofy, puppy-like spirit, but shelter life makes it hard for that side of him to shine every day. The environment can create frustration, and he has shown some reactivity under stress -- which has made dog testing challenging.

The truth is, we don't always get to see the real dog inside a kennel. What we do see is how much Sparky lights up when he leaves the shelter. He absolutely loves field trips with volunteers -- car rides, fresh air, and time away from the noise bring out the happy, affectionate boy he truly is.

Sparky would thrive with:
A foster home to help him decompress
An adopter willing to give structure and patience
A home with older kids or a single person looking for a loyal companion

He's young.
He's smart.
And he needs someone just as much as they might need him.

After 264 days, Sparky is asking for a chance to finally belong.
