Spade's Story

Hi, I’m Spade — a 1-year-old Border Collie mix weighing about 25 pounds, and yes, I’m a proud tripod! I may have come from a high-kill shelter down south and faced more than my share of challenges early on, but you’d never know it by looking at me now. After surgery that resulted in the loss of one of my legs, I bounced right back — running, playing, and living life to the fullest. Most people forget all about my missing leg because I certainly don’t let it slow me down.

I’m as sweet as they come and a total cuddle bug at heart. If you sit down, you can count on me to be right there, leaning in or curling up beside you. I adore people and have a gentle, affectionate nature that makes me an easy companion. I also do wonderfully with other dogs and truly enjoy having canine friends. Because I’m a tripod, I’m best paired with dogs who have a similar, more easygoing play style — just to keep things safe and comfortable for me.

I’m a happy, well-adjusted boy who loves the simple things in life — a cozy spot to relax, a good chew, and plenty of affection. I’ve been around cats in my foster home and, honestly, they don’t impress me much.

I’m neutered, fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, and microchipped. I’m living proof that three legs is more than enough to live a full, joyful life. I’d thrive in just about any loving home looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who’s equal parts playful and snuggly. I’m currently being fostered in Albion, Michigan, and I can’t wait to meet my forever family.

Please apply to adopt me here:
https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/63adcb00cb896f59b74103d2/6989f5a4d0be25f6b40a3ee7

———

If interested, please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder.
