Meet this handsome fella named Sosa! He came into the shelter December 19, 2022 and is now awaiting his adoption day. Came in very skinny and we are helping him gain some weight (using a slow feeder) and teaching him to go “easy” when taking treats out of the palm of your hand when flat. He is 1 year old, current on shots, now neutered, and needing a loving home to call his own. He is a strong boy who’s tackling leash walking and needs an owner that has time to continue to work with him on basic manners/training. He is smart and eager to learn and please. Once you invest time with him you will see a smart, even more mature, handsome fella flourish. He knows sit, will give paw on command and is food motivated. May require owner to feed him in “his area” that keeps dogs away when eating and have all bowls up before letting dogs around. He is worth giving him time love and patience. He has interacted with a few other female dogs and can be playful but also ignore them…has walked past other dogs and been ok as well. With proper introduction and someone dog savvy he may do just fine depending on the other animal. Sometimes judging dogs in shelters it can be hard because shelters can be very noisy with barking dogs, shelter life can also be stressful, and lack of time out per day can play a toll on the sweet fur kids. He loves soaking up body rubs and affection and is your playful, energetic 1 year old puppy. With the right owner and time and love he will blossom into a wonderful loving adult dog. If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance.
The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5, Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home.
In order to adopt any of our "bully breeds" there is special paper work that will need to be collected and approved prior to the adoption. We love all of our dogs and want to make sure to place our "bully babies" in homes best suited for them.
