Sophie's Story

Sophie is a gentle, very sensitive, and low-key 11-month-old Border Collie mix looking for a quiet home. She came to us because she could not adjust to the sounds of the big city and living in a first-floor apartment. The first months of her life she lived indoors, so this is presently where she feels most secure and is nervous outside. However, as she is becoming more comfortable in her foster home, the great outdoors is becoming less scary as she now takes immediate charge of clearing the bird feeder area of birds!

Here’s what else we can tell you about Sophie:
- very kind and gentle with everyone she has met.
- is not a snuggle-bug, but she will follow her humans around the house to be in their presence.
- very quiet
- house trained
- can be left alone in the house. She might chew her blanket to self-sooth, but is otherwise not destructive.
- loves car rides
- has a very good ‘sit’ especially at the door
- has some recall
- is not food motivated
- is VERY noise sensitive

We do not know how Sophie is with other dogs, but a confident, low-key canine may be a good match to help her gain confidence. We do not know how she is with cats, so only cat-free homes will be considered. She also will not be suitable for a home with children.

Sophie’s perfect home would be a peaceful setting with low pressure humans. She needs humans who will be willing to take the time to allow her to become comfortable and not put her into high stress situations. We are sure that, given the time, space, and low-pressure training, Sophie will become your heart dog.

THE REST OF THE IMPORTANT DETAILS
Sophie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is currently being fostered in Portland, Oregon. Her adoption fee is $400. If you are interested in adopting Sophie and are pre-approved, please contact the adoption team at hunahapps@gmail.com.
