She came to us after her previous owner — an older gentleman — passed away. She lived quietly with him and two other dogs, and while she didn’t get much exposure to the outside world, she has been nothing but sweet, polite, and beautifully adaptable in foster care.<br/><br/>Her Personality<br/><br/>Sophie is affectionate, and well-mannered. She has had zero accidents in her foster home and loves being close to her person. As she is navigating through her new environment, she wants to be part of her person’s day and finds comfort in her guidance. <br/><br/>Sophie is initially timid with strangers, but not avoidant. She is interested in them and willing to interact. <br/><br/>Learning the World<br/><br/>Sophie didn’t get many walks in her previous home, so the leash is still a new concept. But she’s already enjoying her walks, taking in the neighborhood with interest and growing confidence. <br/><br/>She’s a young dog who simply hasn’t had much life experience — and despite being understandably nervous about it she’s proving herself curious and adaptable. <br/><br/>She has met several dogs in foster care and has been friendly and appropriate with all of them.<br/><br/>Health<br/><br/>Sophie is in good health with no medical concerns, aside from needing to lose a couple of pounds. Daily walks and a normal routine should take care of that easily.<br/><br/>The Home She Needs<br/><br/>Sophie would thrive with someone who:<br/><br/>• Wants a loving, loyal companion<br/>• Can offer gentle guidance, love and patience as she continues to explore the world. <br/><br/>She is looking for a home where she can blossom — one that will show her how big and beautiful life can be.<br/><br/>Adoption Information<br/><br/>Please note: Because of their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5.<br/><br/>We do not adopt outside the immediate Austin area. <br/><br/>If you live in the immediate Austin area and are interested in adopting from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws, please visit http://www.lilpaws.org to fill out an application. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, a Petfinder Inquiry does not fulfill our application requirements. <br/><br/>We do not have a physical facility — all of our dogs live in loving foster homes.<br/>Lil’ Paws is a small, all-volunteer organization.
