Sophie is a 1.5-year-old German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix whose story is all about resilience, hope, and second chances.<br/><br/>Before coming to Southpaw, Sophie had a very difficult start in life. A caring neighbor stepped in after witnessing her being neglected and confined to a crate for most of her life. She had never been on walks, never seen a veterinarian, and was given only enough food to barely survive.<br/><br/>Despite everything she endured, Sophie’s spirit remained strong.<br/><br/>Now safe, Sophie is finally getting the care she always deserved. She has been fully vetted—spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped—and she’s beginning to discover what it means to simply be a dog.<br/><br/>In her foster home, Sophie is doing well with the two resident dogs and continues to gain confidence every day. She’s learning leash manners, enjoying new experiences, and showing her true personality more and more—and that personality is pure sweetheart.<br/><br/>Understandably, Sophie isn’t a fan of crates after spending so much of her life confined, but with patience, love, and continued positive experiences, she is blossoming beautifully.<br/><br/>Sophie is ready for a family who will help her continue building confidence and show her all the joys she missed out on.
