Sophie's Story
ADOPT DON'T SHOP

Sophie is a young spayed adult female Shepherd mix, who weighs about 40 pounds and has soft eyes and a happy disposition when she is at home among her familiar "people". Based on our experience, her ideal home would include at least one adult female with or without another playful dog. Sophie does not like children at all and is concerned about men, which must be a hold-over from some mistreat in her formative year. She came to us as a stray dog in Mid-November of 2025 dangerously thin, and hyper alert for "danger". Despite this, when she is home, she is a sweet, brave, outgoing, happy girl that loves to play with other dogs, and be by her adult human's side. She is smart, obedient, eager to please and loving as well. Since she is under 18 months old, we think she just needs to get out and about with a safe human who shows good judgement in introducing her to the world so she gains confidence. She would be best in a home without cats as she does show some interest in chasing them. However, if the cat is dog-savvy and will not run, they should rub along just fine as Sophie is a little bit chicken of them at heart. LOL

If you would like to meet Sophie, please email HPHS@Ymail.com or call Jennifer at 530-708-2377. Sophie is up to date on shots, micro-chipped and spayed, and her adoption fee is just $180.
Direct Contact:

Dogs: Jennifer Andersen, Dog Program Manager

(c) 530-708-2377, email: HPHS@Ymail.com

Cats: Cat Program Team

(530) 233-9277, email: hphscatprogram@gmail.com

HPHS supports spay/neutering of all pets.
