Sophia's Story

From Kennel Life to Cuddle Life: Meet Sophia

We’re so surprised this little angel hasn’t been snatched up yet!

Maybe it’s her age? At 7 years old, Sophia is barely middle-aged for a small breed dog — she has so many happy, love-filled years ahead. Or maybe it’s her coat? Her fur was kept short and became stained during her breeder years, but it’s already growing longer, softer, and whiter by the day. Her glow-up is well underway!

Sophia is a 6-lb Maltese who spent her early years as a breeder dog, and now she’s finally learning what it feels like to be cherished. She’s still a bit timid at first, but her bravery shines through — she follows her foster mom everywhere, soaking up love and comfort with every gentle touch.

She adores being held and cuddled once she feels safe. Sophia isn’t nippy or fussy — just a gentle, quiet girl with a heart full of hope and sweetness. With patience and affection, she’ll blossom into the devoted little companion she was always meant to be.

Sophia is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She’s making great progress with kennel cleanliness and knows to potty outside when taken, though she still wears a diaper indoors (and looks adorable doing it!). With time and consistency, she’ll keep improving.

She gets along wonderfully with other small dogs and would likely do fine with cats or calm larger dogs. Respectful children who understand how to handle small pups are also welcome in her world.

Sophia may be tiny, but she’s full of love just waiting to be shared — and she’s ready to trade her kennel for a cozy lap to call her own.

Apply today to meet Sophia at adoptapal.org/adopt adoption fee is $500.
